I can't wait...

You're crazy…

They tell me this about having two under two. Everyone is honest… they tell me “it's really hard in the beginning” or “the first little while just sucks.”

And then…. “But then it's awesome.”

I hate to be feeling like I'm wishing the time away with my kiddos already but I know the first little while after baby is born is going to be about survival.

I think back to how hard the early days were with Ashton and then I realize I also laid in bed for half of the day either while Ashton was napping (on me) or while breastfeeding. I realize now that won't be possible and how silly it was to think it was so hard! I'll now be trying to rock a baby to sleep, breastfeed, recover, eat, clean? cook? shower? all with a screaming toddler in tow. I also have to remind myself that many many people have done this before with more kids/closer age gaps.

There's also feeding a picky toddler, keeping him busy, providing him opportunities to explore, reading stories, looking at puppies through the window, spending one on one time and diapering/potty training?/putting him down for his nap around the same time each day with a (screaming) baby in tow.

But I can't wait. I can't wait to meet my baby. I can't wait to see Ashton see his brother for the first time. I can't wait to see Ashton and baby #2 get to know each other, love each other, and grow up together. I can't wait til they're both in school and hopping off the bus together. I can't wait to take family trips just the four of us…

… maybe once they're both fully potty trained.
